Terms of service
The terms we work by.
These terms cover your use of lettrist.com and any orders placed through it. They are intended to be readable rather than impressive; if anything is unclear, write and ask.

1. Who we are
"Lettrist", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the small studio operating the lettrist.com website. References to "you" mean anyone who uses the site or places an order through it. If you need the legal entity behind the trading name for any formal purpose, write to us and we'll provide it.
2. Accepting these terms
By using lettrist.com, browsing the catalogue or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force is the one published here on the day you placed your order.
3. The work we sell
Everything we sell is made in small batches and described as honestly as we can manage. Photographs are taken in natural light wherever possible. Slight variation in colour, ink coverage and paper texture between individual pieces in the same edition is inherent to letterpress printing and is not a defect.
Limited editions are produced in a fixed quantity stated on the listing. Once sold out, we do not reprint that edition.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in the currency stated at checkout and may include or exclude VAT depending on the destination — the breakdown is visible before you confirm the order. Shipping is calculated separately and shown before payment.
Payment is taken at the moment you place the order, through our payment processor. We never see or store full card details.
We reserve the right to correct pricing errors and, in the rare case of a clear mispricing, to cancel the affected order and refund you in full before dispatch.
5. Order acceptance
An order is an offer to buy; a contract of sale is formed when we email you a dispatch confirmation. Until then, we may decline an order for reasons including (but not limited to) stock being exhausted, suspected fraud, an obvious pricing error, or our inability to ship to your address. If we decline, you'll be refunded in full.
6. Shipping and delivery
Our shipping schedule, packaging, lead times and lost-parcel procedure are set out in full on the shipping page, which forms part of these terms.
Risk passes to you on delivery. International customs duties and import taxes are your responsibility.
7. Returns and refunds
Your right to return goods is set out in full on the returns page, which forms part of these terms. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Intellectual property
All designs, photographs, copy and layouts on lettrist.com are the property of the studio or its licensors. Buying a piece transfers ownership of that physical object to you, but does not transfer any reproduction or commercial rights in the design.
Personal, non-commercial display of pieces you have purchased is fine. Reproduction, scanning, reselling prints of our designs, or using our imagery in your own commercial work is not.
9. Acceptable use of the site
Please don't attempt to scrape, mirror, attack, probe or otherwise interfere with the site or its underlying infrastructure. Please don't impersonate someone else when placing an order, or use the site to do anything illegal in your jurisdiction or ours.
10. Availability of the site
We do our best to keep lettrist.com running, but we can't promise uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance, infrastructure issues, and the limits of a small operation mean the site may occasionally be unavailable. We won't be liable for losses arising from such interruptions beyond what is required by law.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — in particular, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of goodwill, or losses arising from your failure to comply with these terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the studio is established. Any dispute we can't resolve by writing to one another may be brought before the competent courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the European Union, this clause does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of the country in which you are habitually resident.
13. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms occasionally. The current version, with its "Last updated" date, is always the one in force. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page for at least 30 days. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new version.
